Le papyrus raconte l’histoire d’une mère, Théano, qui implore l’aide d’Athéna ou d’Artémis dans un rêve pour retrouver son fils enlevé, Histo. Elle doit voyager d’Égypte, en passant par le sanctuaire du héros Amphiaraos à Orope, jusqu’en Attique.
